A Mary Moment

A heavy sigh, a deep breath as she bowed to her knees. Many tears were
shed too often. Brokeness in her heart, a bruised reed, looking for the hope
of tomorrow and the whisper of joy. Lots of clouds but no silver lining.
Heads turned as the silence broke the shrewdest of thoughts. She
walked thro ugh the ruins of a dissatisfied life, down the hallway of shame
only to bow at his feet. The gentle tinkle of a healed heart was seen
in her tears as it washed his feet, her hair dried it, her perfume of a
repented heart anointed him and her selflessness scented the room with an
aroma of newness, restoration and forgiveness.
Mary came with her alabaster box to pour out herself as a perfume of
worship. An act that legends are made of and many years later, here we are
following her footsteps to the altar of Jesus once again. Israel was
waiting for their hero but Mary, she needed a Saviour. Birth from rebellion
and bitterness Mary emerged from the ashes to beauty.
Lovingly, the God of Love reached out his hand of acceptance as He received
her sacrificial worship of oneself. An invisible individual just got noticed
through the fragrance of her offering . Who would of thought that from
nothing, a something would rise. Written off by the laws of Israel, kept
captive by the deeds of bondage, broken by the hands of man, yet able to see
beyond through the eyes of Christ. A lost lamb has now returned to the
Shepherd.
Many have their Mary moments when there is an overwhelming sense of guilt
from a past too heavy to bear where one is too disappointed to consider even
being anointed. To even think it possible for a miracle that will
bring the wings of change seems so forlorn. Mary, she probably thought
the same. A life of meaningless was what she considered her destiny to
live. A circle of being used, ignored, shamed, rejected, passed by,
spat upon would be her table of life. Then Jesus entered in his
fullness and glory and loosened the chains that brought her pain. Her circle
was now being geometrically and supernaturally altered to the circle of
eternal life in Christ.
"Now one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him, so he went
to the Pharisee's house and reclined at the table. When a woman who had
lived a sinful life in that town learned that Jesus was eating at the
Pharisee's house, she brought an alabaster jar of perfume, and as she stood
behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears.
Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them."
(Luke 7:36-38 NIV)
Is your heart to heavy laden, with cares so many. Are their wounds that are
bleeding which need a compassionate, forgiving physician. Is your
heart longing for a day of new beginnings? I invite you now to have a
Mary moment and come to his feet. Receive his forgiveness freely and
let your life come into alignment with his plan for you.
Move out of the hallway of shame, doubt and disbelief into the hallway of
hope, peace and joy. Trade in your heart of stone and take a heart of
flesh embedded with it a new textbook of life. Your storms will not vanish
but it will be stilled. Let the alabaster box of your mind trust him
to guide your feet and restore your journey to life everlasting.
Wake up from where the devil has had you, your mind, your actions and heart
for too long .His lie of sin over your life has been destroyed in Jesus
name. Walk down the passage of hope. Deaf to the jeering to the point of
where reality replaces religion. If Mary could come, so can you.
Have you had your Mary moment? Jesus is waiting.
Payer Thought : Here I am O Lord, rewrite my life as I place myself
completely in your hands I have fallen short and need your forgiveness and
loving kindness. Take your rightful place in my life and under your
wings may I always find my refuge. Create in me a clean heart and let your
Holy Spirit find an abiding place in my heart. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
