A Race of Love

“Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the
prize? So run, that ye may obtain.” (1 Cor. 9:24 KJV)
Have you ever participated in a race for a prize? If you won, you know how happy
you were. We are in a race for Jesus. At least, He has called us to run in His
race. Sad to say, not everyone has put on their running shoes and starting
running to spread His Love. Only the ones who are telling the good news of our
risen Saviour will win the prize of seeing a smile on His face when He comes
back for us. My only reason for living is to see the smile on His face and to
make Him happy.
The Bible says that we are either for Him or against Him. There is no middle
ground. We are either serving Him or serving satan. You may think that you
aren’t racing but you are, either for Jesus or for satan. There is no greater
joy in life for me than to make Jesus happy. He has suffered so much because
people ignore Him or put Him on the shelf and only take Him down when they need
Him. He is hurt by the cruel words we say and the cruel things that we do to
people. He said “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my
brethren, ye have done it unto me” (Matthew 25:40).
The athletes who run in the Olympics put a lot of time and training into winning
the race. They exercise faithfully and for long hours. O’ that we would put that
much training into the race for Jesus. How many hours do we spend talking to
Jesus during the day? Do we give Him more time than we give our jobs, our
families and our activities? Which race is more important to you, the Olympics
or the race to tell others of the amazing unconditional love of Jesus? Are you
running to make Jesus happy? Is He the first priority in your life?
