A Tree of Love

“And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is
pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of
the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.” (Gen. 2:9 KJV)
God not only planted trees of beauty for us; He also planted a tree of love. In
1982, Chuck Lawrence wrote one of my favorite songs “He Grew The Tree”. When I
first heard this song, my heart broke and I cried when I realized just how much
God really does love us. These words in the song really touched my heart “He
grew the tree that He knew would be used to make the Old Rugged Cross.”
What kind of God would grow a tree which He knew that His own beloved Son would
die on? It is a God whose heart is filled with compassion, unconditional love,
mercy, grace and forgiveness for us. When our precious Saviour was crucified for
our sins, He was crucified on a tree of love that came from the heart of our
loving Heavenly Father.
God loved us so much that He not only planted the tree that His Son would die
on, He also grew the tree. What unconditional love and what compassion He had
for us when He planted the tree of love. When Jesus died on the cross for us, He
not only gave His life’s blood for us on the cross, He also gave us His
unconditional love and compassion. There is no greater love than the love of our
Heavenly Father and Jesus!
Our families and our friends love us but their love is sometimes like a
flickering candle compared to the brilliant and steady light of love that comes
from the hearts of our Heavenly Father and Jesus. We may have times of happiness
when we are with our families and friends but it is only when we are in the
presence of Jesus that we have the fulness of joy. “Thou wilt shew me the path
of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are
pleasures for evermore” (Psalm 16: 11).
Do you have this fulness of joy? Has there ever been a time in your life when
you admitted that you are a sinner and asked Jesus to forgive you of your sins
and come into your heart to be your personal Saviour? If not, you are lost in
your sins and you will spend all eternity in hell with satan instead of spending
all eternity in Heaven with Jesus. Don’t let that happen to you!
For some of you, Jesus has been knocking at the door of your hearts for many
years and you have either ignored Him or purposely rejected Him. I urge you; I
plead with you to give Him your heart and your life before it is too late! One
day it will be too late for you to say “yes” to Jesus and invite Him into your
heart.
Your family and your loved ones can’t make the decision for you. They can pray
for you but it is up to you to repent of your sins and invite the Christ of
Calvary into your heart. Salvation is a personal matter between you and Jesus.
Who do you choose to spend eternity with, Jesus or satan? I pray with all of my
heart that you will choose Jesus.
