God's Wheelchair

“Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” (Isaiah 53: 4, 5 KJV)

When we see someone in a wheelchair, we understand that they have a physical problem and need the wheelchair to get around. Often we have trials, heartaches and crises and we need God’s wheelchair to carry us through life. The ones in His wheelchair are the people who are hurting, lonely, discouraged and defeated, have broken hearts, broken homes and fragmented lives. All of us have been in God’s wheelchair because all of us hurt.

The Bible tells us that Jesus carries our sorrows and bears our griefs. What a precious friend, this Jesus of Nazareth! He loves us unconditionally and He loves us so much that He died for us. He took our sins on Him and paid the price for our sins because we could have never paid the price. He understands how we feel when we are hurting because He also endured loneliness, heartache, rejection, ridicule, criticism and sarcasm.

We are to help Jesus push His wheelchair by being kind to one another. We help push His wheelchair by forgiving others when they hurt us and by loving one another unconditionally. All too often, we fail Jesus in these areas of our lives. Many times we put conditions on our love. I am so grateful that Jesus loves us unconditionally. We would be in terrible trouble if He didn’t.

If you are hurting today and feel like it is impossible for you to give another smile and keep going, get in God’s wheelchair and allow Him to carry you until the crises, the heartaches and the discouragement goes away. As He carries you in His wheelchair of love, He will kiss away your discouragement, loneliness, heartaches and frustration with His unconditional love, understanding, and compassion. He will carry you until you are able to smile once again. Are you helping Jesus push His wheelchair by being kind and loving to people?
