Good Tidings of Great Joy

“And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” (Luke 2: 10 -14 KJV)

I never read the story of the birth of Jesus without getting tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat. When I think about the King of Kings and Lord of Lords leaving His Father and His home to come to earth knowing in advance that He was going to be treated cruelly and suffer torture and an agony that no one will ever experience, my heart is overwhelmed. This kind of unconditional love can only come from the heart of our Saviour.

God gave His Son for us, but He did not make Jesus come to earth. Jesus chose to come to earth on His mission just as He allowed them to nail Him to the old rugged cross. I urge you on Christmas Day to give back to Jesus the love that He has given you. The Bible says “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” (Matthew 25:40) You will make the heart of Jesus to rejoice if you will give unconditional love to your family, loved ones and friends on Christmas Day and every day of the year.

The joy of Christmas is the unconditional love that Jesus gives us. The peace of Christmas is the warmth of His Love. The bells of Christmas ring anew in our hearts daily as they play “Joy to the world the Lord is come”. Open your heart and life to Jesus today. You will have a peace and joy you have never known.
