My Christmas Present

"It is more blessed to give than to receive." (Acts 20:35 NIV)

Every year I try and do something special for Christmas, something unusual, something that will touch someone. This year I may have out done myself. I touched myself, my wife and our family. I gave my wife her health, extended her life. I do not think her family has realized my gift yet, but they will. My wife has been overweight, and with the weight, suffered from high blood pressure, sleep apnea, high cholesterol, knee problems, back problems, and became diabetic. I saved my money and for two years we put her on various diets and such, but nothing worked.

Realizing that her life might end in a few years, I put my money down for a Ruen Y surgery, a bariatric operation, a weight reduction operation. My insurance did not cover it as much as I hoped but enough but what is money as opposed to life? The operation went well and just a week later my wife no longer had her diabetic condition. Her weight had dropped by twenty pounds and her blood pressure was normal. This will be a long process and adjustments will be made, however the road to recovery has been started. The road to life and quality living. A gift to my wife, which in turn is a gift to me and a gift to her children and grandchildren. My wife, who has a wonderful voice, who sings in and for many churches will sing the praise of the Lord for many years to come!
