No Retirement Plan

“For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.” (Romans 11: 29 KJV)

Have you ever heard someone say “I’m retired so there’s no rush to get things done”? Oh dear friends, when we have committed our lives to serving Jesus there is no retirement plan and not only is there a rush to win souls to Jesus, there is an urgency to win souls to Jesus. The time is short. Our precious Saviour is coming back any minute and many of us have family members, loved ones and friends who have never said “yes” to Jesus and asked Him to save them. Again, there is an urgency to lead our family, our loved ones, our friends and a world that is lost and dying to Jesus!

We must be about the Master’s business while there is still time. Sometimes we act like He isn’t coming back for a long time, perhaps for many years. We have listened to the lies of satan and instead of reaching out to people on the telephone, and sending them emails and snail mail to tell them about Jesus, we have spent our days watching television and pursuing our own pleasures. We have allowed satan to deceive us into thinking that we have a lot of time to tell others about the compassionate and unconditional love of Jesus.

We have neglected to tell our families, our loved ones and friends and a world that is lost and dying without Jesus about His saving grace which He purchased for us through His precious atoning and redeeming blood that He shed for us on the cross of Calvary. We have allowed satan to lull us into a false sense of security. Jesus said in Revelation 22:12 “And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.”

We are in a race between good and evil and I think that sometimes we allow satan to get us off the race track for Jesus. Some of us have families and friends that are traveling many miles to be with us next week to celebrate the birthday of Jesus. It may be the last time that we see some of them as Jesus may return before next Christmas and if they haven’t made a heart commitment to Jesus, they will be left behind when He takes us home to be with Him.

The greatest gift you can give your family and friends can’t be bought in a store. It is not for sale in any store. It is a free gift of compassion, grace, mercy, tenderness and forgiveness and it only comes from accepting Jesus as personal Saviour. Telling them about Jesus and extending to them the unconditional love of Jesus is the greatest gift that you can give to your family, to your loved ones and to your friends.
