Only the Blood

“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship
one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all
sin.” (1 John 1: 7 KJV)
I have false teeth and every night I take them out and soak them overnight in a
cleanser made especially for dentures. When I put them back in my mouth in the
morning, they not only are clean, there is no bad odor. There is no way that I
could ever soak my mistakes, sins and failures in a cleanser overnight and have
the foul odor of my sins washed away. Only the precious atoning and cleansing
blood of Jesus can wash away the stench and filth of my sins, my mistakes and my
failures.
I told someone the other day that I was so glad that I have false teeth now
because I had a lot of painful toothaches for many years. Just as I had a lot of
painful toothaches, I had a lot of painful memories, hopelessness, despair and
fear in my heart until one glorious day, my precious Saviour put His loving arms
around me and told me that He loved me unconditionally. It has taken Jesus many
years to reassure me of His unconditional love for me. When people say cruel and
criticizing words to me, He still has to remind me that He loves me.
I think sometimes we take the precious blood of Jesus for granted. Jesus has
told us that if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us and
to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9) and I think sometimes we
have this promise in the back of our minds when we do things that we shouldn’t
and say cruel and criticizing words to people.
I heard someone make this statement several years ago “It’s okay to sin because
Jesus promised us that He would forgive us.” I submit to you on the authority of
the Word of God that it is not okay to sin. Yes, He is faithful to forgive us if
we slip and sin but we are not to deliberately sin because we know that He will
forgive us. We need to remember that when we do sin, we hurt our precious
Saviour. So if we sin on purpose because we know that He will forgive us, not
only are we hurting Him, we are saying to Him “I don’t love You”.
Have your sins been washed in the cleansing atoning blood of Jesus? Has there
ever been a time in your life when you admitted that you are a sinner and asked
Jesus to forgive you and save you and come into your heart to be your personal
Saviour? If not, you are lost in your sins and you will spend all eternity in
hell with satan. I urge you; I plead with you to give your heart and life to
Jesus right now before it is too late. One day it will be too late for you to
say yes to Jesus. Please invite Him into your heart right now!
