Password -- By Elizabeth Price

You don’t get far these days without a password. If you want to use your computer or access your bank account, you must know the password. Only with the password, can you access the depths of information.

Can you imagine being adrift in a dark, shark-infested ocean, you have run out of food and you are parched for water, then you come to a beautiful island? Your very life depends on getting ashore but the moment you try to scramble up the beach, you are stopped by guards. You are not allowed to enter without the password.

You call out every word you can think of but nothing gets you past the guard. You devise ways to land, you sneak in at night-time but full entry is not allowed without the password.

Exhausted, you live on the edge of the beach, only semi-unconscious.

Luke pictures something like that. The disciples had brought complete healing to a cripple and they were teaching about the resurrection of the dead.

The guards arrested them. ‘By what power or what name did you do this?’ In other words, ‘what password did you use to open this page and restore the cripple? And by what password will the page of the dead be opened and they be raised to life?’

And Peter thundered out the answer: "then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. He is the stone you builders rejected, which has become the capstone. Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved." (Acts 4:10-12 NIV)

Through the password, the man was healed and it is through that password the dead will be raised to life. To open those pages, you must know the password. Only the password lets you in to the page.

By the way, you have stored Jesus Christ in your memory bank, haven’t you? He will open the page of eternity to you.
