Stop Spitting on Jesus

“When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight: and as he drew near to behold it, the voice of the Lord came unto him, Saying, I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Then Moses trembled, and durst not behold. Then said the Lord to him, Put off thy shoes from thy feet: for the place where thou standest is holy ground." (Acts 7:31-33 KJV)

Have you ever had to walk on the street where someone has spit? It is disgusting and it really upsets me. We need to understand and realize that every place that we walk belongs to Jesus and is holy ground. If Jesus lives in our hearts, then our homes and everything in them belongs to Him and is holy ground.

Many times when I get in bed at night, I sing this little song to Him “I am lying on holy ground and I know that there are angels all around. I will praise Jesus now for I am lying in His presence on holy ground”. Moses trembled and wouldn’t even look because of the holiness of our Saviour. Yet, we treat Him with indifference and disrespect by spitting on the ground.

We also spit on Him in our cruel sarcastic words and in our mean actions toward one another. Jesus is Love and when we hurt people, we are spitting on His Love. How dare you and I treat Him like He is nothing but dirt! I’m sure that God’s heart breaks daily when He sees the way that His Son is treated.

If ever someone deserves to be respected, praised, honored and adored, it is Jesus, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. How it thrills my heart to know that one day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord! What a victory party there will be on the day that Jesus comes back!
