A Firm Foundation

"But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall." (Matt 7:26-27 NKJV)

On a recent vacation I took a stroll on Ponte Vedra Beach . I immediately noticed the different consistency in the sand from yesterday's walk. Then it had been soft and mushy - difficult to walk upon. Now it was very firm and compact- no give at all- which made my task much easier. After my saunter on the sand, the asphalt road led me back to our condominium. This was the easiest surface of all three to walk upon.

My morning stroll reminded me of a scripture -- Matthew 7:26- where Jesus speaks of a house being built upon sand or rock.

If I was able to feel the difference in the firmness of these three surfaces, how wise Jesus was to tell us to build upon a firm foundation. Our lives will just be more manageable when we make Jesus our cornerstone and build upon the firm and solid precious Word of God.

Thank you, Lord for your firm foundation.
