I Want Jesus

“Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise:
When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together,
she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. Then Joseph her husband, being a
just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put
her away privily. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of
the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David,
fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her
is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call
his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.” (Matthew
1: 18-21 KJV)
When our precious Saviour was born, love entered the world. However, it was
not just love that entered the world; it was unconditional love that entered
the world. It was unconditional love for us from the heart of our loving
Heavenly Father that caused Him to send His only beloved Son into the world
to save us from our sins.
Rhea F. Miller wrote a poem that so adequately describes the longing in my
heart “I’d Rather Have Jesus”. I believe when this dear lady wrote the words
to this poem that they came from the depths of her heart. She wrote the poem
in 1922 and in 1932 George Beverly Shea put the words to music.
These words are so beautiful and they should echo the longing in the heart
of every Christian. “I’d rather have Jesus than silver or gold; I’d rather
be His than have riches untold; I’d rather have Jesus than houses or lands,
I’d rather be led by His nail pierced hand.”
Can you honestly say that you’d rather have Jesus than any of these things?
O how I want Jesus! I want Him every minute of every day. I love Him with
all of my heart. All the money in the world and all the material things in
the world are meaningless compared to the privilege of having our precious
and loving Saviour in our hearts. Do you want Jesus or do you want the
things of this world? Only you can answer this question. What is more
important to you, Jesus or riches and fame?
