Thank God for the Bills

“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19 KJV)

We have to pay bills every month. Many times there is not enough money to pay the bills or there is not enough money to pay the bills and also buy groceries and personal necessities. I have received several emails from people who told me they didn’t know how they were going to pay their bills.

I can relate to those people because I am on Social Security and many times I am like the pastor who said “There is more month than there is money”. However, our Scripture verse for today gives us hope because God will supply everything that we need. We can trust God to take care of us.

Thank God for the bills because it means that we are living in a house and not sleeping on the streets. It means that we have warmth and shelter. We take so many things for granted and we also take God for granted. I thank God for indoor plumbing so I don’t have to go outside to go to the bathroom.

It is time we stop complaining about what we don’t have and be grateful for what we do have. There is one bill that we will never have to pay. It is our sin debt. It is a bill that we owe but could never pay. Thank God that the price was paid in full by our precious Saviour when He died for us on the cross.

If you have been complaining about paying bills, stop it. Many people don’t have a place to live or food to eat. It has only been ten years since I have had a home to live in and I thank God for the privilege of having a home. I get excited when I pay my bills. It means I am not sleeping on the streets.
