The Rest of the Year

“And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and
his disciples rebuked those that brought them. But when Jesus saw it, he was
much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me,
and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.” (Mark 10: 13, 14
KJV)
We will give our children gifts at Christmas but what about the rest of the
year? Will we give them the love and attention that they need? Don’t give your
children gifts at Christmas and then ignore them the rest of the year. All
children need to be hugged and loved every day even when they have been naughty.
They need to feel like they are special.
Our Scripture tells us that Jesus was displeased because His disciples rebuked
those who brought the children to Him. However, He wasn’t just displeased; He
was much displeased. Jesus loves our children more than we ever could and He can
take better care of them than we can. It is a wise and loving parent who puts
their children in the loving and protective hands of Jesus.
The greatest gift we can give our children at Christmas is to hug them and smile
at them even if they have been disobedient. Isn’t that what Jesus does for us?
He loves us unconditionally and hugs us no matter how many times we are
disobedient to Him and hurt Him.
I remember my Mother saying to me many times “It doesn’t matter what I say.
You’re going to do what you want to do.” May God have mercy on us and forgive us
for being disobedient children and for doing the things that we want to do no
matter what He says.
