Will You Follow?

“But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus
Christ.” (1 Corinthians 15:57 KJV)
C. S. Kauffman wrote a song that should make us search our hearts “On to
Victory”. “On to vic’try, follow your mighty Commander, On to vic’try, follow
where Jesus may go; On to vic’try, close to your Shield and Defender; On to
vic’try, conquering every foe.”
We will follow Jesus as a foreign missionary but are we willing to follow Him as
a home missionary? Years ago when I was a teenager, we had a mission’s
conference at our church. We had foreign missionaries and home missionaries at
the conference. Both of them showed slides of their work.
What broke my heart is that both the slides that the foreign missionaries and
the slides that the home missionaries showed were almost identical. There were
hungry children in all of the slides. Think about it, we get upset if we can’t
buy steaks and there are children in our own neighborhoods that are hungry.
One day, every one of us will stand before a Holy God and give an account of why
we let these precious children go hungry. Yes, it is very important that we send
foreign missionaries but what about home missionaries. Just as a revival must
start in our hearts so missions must start right where we live.
We must feed the hungry children not only in foreign countries but also in our
own neighborhoods. However, it’s not enough to give them food, we must hug them.
There are many children who are starving for love and attention. Will you follow
Jesus no matter where He leads you?
