Draw Me Closer

Lord I need to draw closer to thee.

So I can be all you want me to be.

Walk with me everyday, each step of the way.

"Lord, please help me draw closer to Thee."

I want to walk the same paths that You trod.

So my spirit will be nearer to God,

And when I kneel to pray, this is what I will say,

"Lord, please help me draw closer to Thee."

I want to speak with a spiritual tongue.

Tell everyone about the love of God's son,

And about how You died on that tree,

"Lord, please help me draw closer to Thee."

I want to tell about God's saving grace,

And how His precious Son took our place.

How he suffered so that we would believe.

"Lord, please help me draw closer to Thee."

Closer to Thee is where I long to be,

Until our spirits emerge into one.

Where Your endless love encircles me like a dove,

And Your presence shines bright as the sun.
