Declare the Name of the Lord!

There are too many Christians who are living below what God ever
intended for us. As we look around us we are faced with the
breakdown of the family, children and teen-agers acting out in
disrespectful ways, financial difficulties, mounting physical
afflictions and a church that seems to be powerless to make a
difference. Why is this so? Is this the abundant life Jesus promised
we would have? I think not. Are we missing something? The answer is
a loud YES!
Psalm 22:22 says, “I will declare Your name to My brethren; in the
midst of the assembly I will praise You.” This Scripture gives us a
key to walking in victory and leading an overcoming life. The first
thing the verse tells us to do is to declare. To declare means to
“make known” or “to set forth”. When we declare something we are
making known what truth is and we set forth the power of that truth.
Second, when we declare the name of the Lord, we are making known
the character and attributes of God in each situation. We are
setting forth the power of His name in the midst of our
circumstances. Ok, that sounds great but how exactly do we do that?
Let me give you a few examples that you can follow.
First, before we can declare God’s name we need to know what it is.
God revealed Himself to Moses as “I AM”. Notice He did not say His
name is “I Was” or “I Will Be”. No, He said His name is “I AM”. God
is every thing we need Him to be at every moment of every day in
every situation!
God also revealed Himself through out the Old Testament according to
His other attributes as well. For instance, He is known as The Lord
our healer. This means we can declare God’s healing anointing in our
physical bodies. We set forth that truth to work in our midst. We
are now speaking in faith and enforce our victory in healing. God is
also known as The Lord our (Banner) Victory. When we declare the
name of the Lord our Victory, we are making known and setting forth
the victory won for us by Jesus Himself when He shed His blood at
Calvary. “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the
word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the
death.” (Rev. 12:11) This is powerful. We declare the victory
already accomplished by Christ in every area of our lives. Victory
in our relationships (family), victory in our churches, victory in
our finances, victory in our schools, victory in our present
circumstances and victory in our future! Are you getting the idea
now? Do you see how you too can begin to speak forth and declare the
name of Lord in your life?
As you begin to put this into practice, remember these other names
of God; The Lord our Peace, The Lord our Shepherd, The Lord our
Provider, The Lord our Righteousness, The Lord is There and The Lord
Sanctifies. Declare the name of the Lord and enforce the victory.
Expect God to be Who He says He is. Thank the Lord for His
faithfulness and give testimony to others as you praise Him. Get out
from under your circumstances and remember you are declaring the
truth while you are seated in Heavenly places in Christ Jesus! (Eph.
2:5-6)
Finally, I want to encourage everyone reading this to join me in
declaring: "We will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the
living." (Ps. 27:13b)
