Standing Confident Before the Judgment

"He summons the heavens above, and the earth, that he may judge his people:  'Gather to me my consecrated ones, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice.'  And the heavens proclaim his righteousness, for God himself is judge." (Ps 50:4-6)

The judgment:  That word that strikes terror in the hearts of saved and unsaved alike.  Why?  Because we are told:  "For with fire and with his sword the LORD will execute judgment upon all men, and many will be those slain by the LORD."  (Isa 66:16) Sounds pretty ominous and scary, doesn't it?  How can any of us stand up before God Himself in judgment and have any hope whatsoever of not being "slain by the Lord"?

The answer is found in our Bible text today.  God says: 'Gather to me my consecrated ones, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice.'  The prerequisite for God to deliver us from the judgment?  Sacrifice!  Being "covered" in blood!  Being covered in the blood of Jesus!

My friends, when we accept Jesus' wonderful gift of salvation, we are "covered" by His blood.  We have made that "covenant with [God] by sacrifice"!  We do not have to fear the judgment for: "In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because in this world we are like him." (1 John 4:17-18) NIV

Friends, have you made that "covenant with [God] by sacrifice"?  If not, do so today!  Do not delay, for life is fragile!

Love in Christ,
