The Image, Part 4
God is NOT Willing that ANY Should Perish!

The following devotional is the fourth in a short
series focusing on Daniel 2: Nebuchadnezzar's vision of the great
statue of gold, silver, bronze, iron, and clay.
"The king said to Daniel, 'Surely your God is the God of gods and
the Lord of kings and a revealer of mysteries, for you were able to
reveal this mystery.'" (Dan 2:47)
We take up our story at the point where Daniel has been given the
mystery of the king's dream and has shared it with King
Nebuchadnezzar. Now, we know that Daniel is considered one of the
great prophets, so it is little wonder that Daniel was given the
vision concerning Nebuchadnezzar's dream. But didn't you ever wonder
why this dream was given to Nebuchadnezzar in the first place? Far
from being a prophet, at this point in his life, he wasn't even a
follower of God! But this didn't stop God for revealing a piece of
the future to this pagan king. Why? There were several GREAT
prophets around at the time. Why not one of them?
I believe the answer lies in the king's response to Daniel after
hearing his dream and its meaning: "Surely your God is the God of
gods and the Lord of kings and a revealer of mysteries . . .".
As a
result of this dream, and as a result of the Lord revealing the same
dream to Daniel in a vision, this pagan king comes to the point
where he is acknowledging that one True God, the God of Heaven!
There were other times in Bible history that God revealed the future
to pagans. Pharaoh's dream of the fat vs. skinny corn and cows is
another that comes to mind. In this case, the pagan king also
acknowledged the true God of Heaven (Gen. 41:38)! My friends, God
will stop at nothing to see a soul saved. 2 Peter 3:9: "The Lord is
not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but
is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but
that all should come to repentance."
Let's take a moment to praise the Lord for His persistence in saving
souls! After all, if you have answered the Savior's Call, then you
are a product of God's persistence! But if you have NOT yet answered
the Savior's Call, the Lord continues to patiently draw you to Him!
Why wait another day, my friends? Why not answer the Savior's call
-- Today??? To do so, just click on the following link:

Father God, we praise you for your patience and persistence in
drawing sinners home! Lord, continue to do whatever is necessary to
see that as many as are willing will be saved!
