The Image, Part 7
My God Still Lives Among Men . . .

The following devotional is the last on in a short
series focusing on Daniel 2: Nebuchadnezzar's vision of the great
statue of gold, silver, bronze, iron, and clay.
After having looked at the vision in detail, and after having
examined Daniel's interactions in regards to this vision, let's step
back a bit to see if there is a lesson to be learned from the wise
men of Babylon:
"The astrologers answered the king, 'There is not a man on earth who
can do what the king asks! No king, however great and mighty, has
ever asked such a thing of any magician or enchanter or astrologer.
What the king asks is too difficult. No one can reveal it to the
king except the gods, and they do not live among men.'" (Dan.
2:10-11)
The wise men of Babylon are being threatened with their very lives
because they cannot tell the king what he has dreamed. They are
desperate! But they have no power to reveal the Nebuchadnezzar what
he has dreamed. In desperation, they cry out: There is not a man on
Earth who can do what the king asks . . . "No one can reveal it to
the king except the gods, and they do not live among men!"
What a profound statement! And a true one, for these men were idol
worshippers, serving gods of wood and stone! Their gods couldn't
reveal the mystery, for they CERTAINLY didn't live among men!
How sad this is, my friends, for the wise men of Babylon didn't know
any better then to worship false gods, evil spirits posing as deity.
But WE know better! We do NOT serve a god who does NOT live among
men! On the contrary, our God walks among men! He isn't a god of
wood and stone. He isn't an evil spirit posing as a god. He is
ALIVE. He INVOLVES Himself in our lives. He loves us, and He seeks a
relationship with us. He does, indeed, live among and within us,
seeking anyone who will hear His voice! Rev 3:20: "Here I am! I
stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the
door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me."
As a matter of fact, this fact itself constitutes the difference
between Christianity and all other world religions! The founders of
other religions are gone. But OUR God is STILL ALIVE! He STILL walks
among men. And when we call upon Him, He shows up with signs and
wonders! Praise God!
My friend, do you serve the God who STILL LIVES among men? Or are
you, like the wise men of Babylon, still bound to serving a god who
does not? If you don't personally know the God who lives among men,
I would like nothing better than to introduce you to Him. He is MY
God. And He wants to be YOUR God too! Behold, He stands at YOUR door
and He knocks. If you hear His voice and open the door, He WILL come
in! He will be YOUR God too. And you will learn what a blessing it
is to believe in and serve a God who STILL WALKS AMONG MEN! Don't
wait another day, my friend! Answer the Savior's Call!!! To do so,
