The Lord is Gracious and Compassionate . . .

"The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. The LORD is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made." (Ps 145:8-9)

Slow to anger, gracious, compassionate, rich in love . . . Wow! Did you ever know anyone like that?  I would wager to guess that if you have, this was the kind of person that people were drawn too!  And, I might also wager to guess that you, yourself might have felt somehow drawn to that person too!  Unfortunately, there is so little of this in the world.  Why?  Because true graciousness, compassion, and love are not natural character traits of most human beings!  In fact, most of us inherited just the opposite character traits!

Yet Jesus is our ultimate example, and Ps. 145 tells us that He is all of these things!  And if Jesus, who is perfect, can find compassion, graciousness, and love in His heart for such unworthy creatures as we are, doesn't it make sense that we should also show love, compassion and graciousness to one another?

Lord, take away my heart of stone.  Give me a heart of flesh, a heart where You dwell, so that I may be slow to anger, gracious, compassionate, and rich in love in ALL of my dealings today.  For it is only then that a can a watching world can see You through me, only then will the world be drawn to You through what they see in me!

Love in Christ,

Lyn
