Focus on His Heart

“Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took
Jesus, and led him away. And he bearing his cross went forth into a place
called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha: Where
they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in
the midst.” (John 19:16-18 KJV)
I have read and heard many sermons on the crucifixion of our precious
Saviour. However, I have never read or heard an entire sermon about the
anguish in His heart while He was hanging on that cruel cross for you and
for me.
I want to focus on His heart in this devotion. Look with the eyes of your
hearts at the heart of Jesus while He was hanging on that cross. He had been
beaten beyond recognition. His heart must have shattered into a million
pieces.
I believe that every time they pounded a nail into His hand, He felt the
nail being pounded into His heart. If He had wanted to, He could have come
down from the cross. Why would He stay on that cross when He could have come
down?
The reason is because not only does He give unconditional love; our precious
Saviour is unconditional love. He loves us so much that He was willing to
stay on the cross and suffer all that excruciating pain for you and for me.
What a loving Saviour!
Heavenly Father, how thankful we are that one day You opened Your heart of
grace, mercy, compassion and love to us and sent Your beloved Son into the
world to die for us so we may be saved. Father, You are so wonderful. I love
You. Amen.
