Listen to Him
“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great
and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” (Jeremiah 33:3 KJV)
I wonder how many times we have prayed and asked God for direction but didn’t do
what He told us to do. I read about a woman who felt that God was telling her
not to go to the grocery store that morning but she went anyway.
Ten minutes later, a car ran the stop light and killed her instantly. We must
listen to Him! Are you listening to Him when He tells you to do something or do
you do what you want to do? I believe we hurt Him many times because we don’t
listen.
I wonder if He sometimes feels like my Mother felt. When I was a teenager, I
didn’t always listen to her. I did what I wanted to do no matter what she said.
She said to me one time “There’s no use of me talking. You’re going to do what
you want to do.”
If we would learn to listen to God when He tells us something, we would have
less problems and heartaches. When we have to make a decision about something,
we should never do it unless God gives us peace about the situation.
Heavenly Father, we confess that we have sinned at times because we did what we
wanted to do no matter what You said to do. We’re sorry that we hurt You. Please
help us to wait on You to tell us what to do in a situation and then do it.
