We Forget

“And when they came to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.” (Luke 23:33 KJV)

Jennie Evelyn Hussey wrote the song “Lead Me to Calvary”. “King of my life, I crown Thee now, Thine shall the glory be; Lest I forget Thy thorn crowned brow, Lead me to Calvary. Lest I forget Gethsemane, Lest I forget Thine agony; Lest I forget Thy love for me, Lead me to Calvary.”

I think that sometimes we forget all that our precious Saviour has done for us. O how we need to remember Gethsemane and the agony He suffered for us. Jesus, who had never sinned, had never done anything wrong, took all of our sins on Him and paid the debt we owed, a debt that we could never have paid.

When we feel discouraged and when we are ridiculed and rejected and broken hearted, we need to remember that Jesus was also discouraged, ridiculed and rejected. He too had His heart broken time and time again by the way He was treated. What a Saviour we are privileged to have!

Heavenly Father, we confess that we have sinned at times by forgetting all that Your beloved Son has done for us. We’re sorry we hurt You. Please have mercy on us and forgive us. Help us never to forget all that Jesus has done for us and the excruciating pain and agony He suffered for us. Amen.
