Fooling Yourself

Was there a
time when you were a child and you wanted a cookie but your
mother said you couldn't have one? Did you sneak around when
she wasn't there and get one thinking that your mother would
not know you got one? The psalmist wrote about someone like
this:
Psalm 10:4-5, 11 (NLT): "These wicked people are
too proud to seek God. They seem to think that God is
dead. Yet they succeed in everything they do. They do
not see your punishment awaiting them. They pour scorn
on all their enemies. The wicked say to themselves, "
God isn't watching! He will never notice! "
WE know we can't get away with anything. God sees us all the
time. We cannot hide from Him. These points are shown in the
following passages:
Numbers 32:23 (NLT): "But if you fail to keep your
word, then you will have sinned against the Lord , and you
may be sure that your sin will find you out."
Galatians 6:7-8 (NLT): "Don't be misled. Remember that
you can't ignore God and get away with it. You will always
reap what you sow! Those who live only to satisfy
their own sinful desires will harvest the consequences of
decay and death. But those who live to please the Spirit
will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit."
This does not mean that God is waiting to squash you like a
bug. He does not look for people to punish. God is love and
wants to show his love to everyone. You must turn from your
sin, confess your sin and then god will forgive you.
1 John 1:8-9 (NLT): "If we say we have no sin, we are
only fooling ourselves and refusing to accept the truth. But
if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to
forgive us and to cleanse us from every wrong." [1]
Stop fooling yourself and surrender your life to Jesus
Christ.
