He is Risen!
A Scriptural Nugget for Easter Sunday

Alleluia! Christ is risen!  The Lord is risen indeed, alleluia.

Mark 16 tells a story that is seemingly impossible. Some women visit a tomb early on a Sunday morning to anoint the body of a dear Friend and Teacher. When they got there, the huge stone at the entrance was rolled away, and an angel is sitting where His body was! If you had been one of those women, would you have been amazed, and afraid, too? I know I would have!

Even today, the idea of God becoming a mortal man, dying for the sake of our sins, and being resurrected from the dead is too much for some to grasp.  For many years, the idea of Christianity made no sense to me. It wasn't until God revealed Himself in a major way that I could truly understand the reality of the resurrection.

Easter has become a lot like Christmas recently. The Christian meaning of the holiday has become lost due to commercialism. The Easter bunny and other non-Christian symbols are seemingly more well-known than Jesus. Easter celebrations have been transformed into "spring celebrations" to make the message less offensive to non-Christians. Many children who celebrate Easter probably haven't heard about the Resurrection.

Well, my friends, here's the good news: the joy of the resurrection calls us to share our faith with others. Mark 16:15 tells us that we are to share the Gospel with everyone. Ask God to help you keep your eyes open to those who need the Gospel.

Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again. This news is too good not to share!

In His love from your sister in Christ,
