How Do You Balance?
"A false balance is
abomination to the Lord: but a just weight is His
delight." (Proverbs
11:1)
When you go shopping
anywhere, in our great country, it is not like it used to
be! Why?
When I was a small boy, I was
sent to the small country grocery, with just enough money
to purchase the items, such as sugar, lard, flour, and
salt. The grocer always took great pains to ensure
that the measure was slightly over the prescribed weight
Then, as I grew older, the attitude changed so that when you shop, these days, you get maybe 12 ounces for a pound.
Lev. 19:35-37, "Ye shall
do no unrighteousness in judgement, in meteyard, in
weight, or in measure. Just balances, just weights a
just ephah, and a just hin, shall ye have: I am the Lord
your God, which brought you out of the land of
Egypt. Therefore shall ye observe all my
statues, and all my judgments, and do them: I am the
Lord!"
This is our instruction to be
obedient to Him and make sure our balances are just and
right. We, as Christians, need to take heed to this
subject and make double sure our balances, in dealing with
others, are righteous and correct! Anything less is
disobedience and that is what caused this massive problem
in the country today. You have to search hard, these
days, for a full measure. The country and our people
have become very corrupted, whereas we just join right in
and do as the world does. Shame. Shame.
If we are to be pleasing to
our Heavenly Father and Lord Jesus Christ, we need to
insist that we, ourselves, are not corrupted. We
need to take inventory of ourselves and demand our
balances are right and correct. The world perceives
we are different when our balances are correct. This
is part of our witness; that the Lord is the Head of our
Lives.
I, personally, choose to be a
Blessing and Pleasing to our Lord, Jesus Christ.
