Bragging Rights

1 Chronicles 16:23-27 (NRSV): "Sing to the Lord , all the earth. Tell of his
salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his
marvelous works among all the peoples. For great is the Lord , and greatly
to be praised; he is to be revered above all gods. For all the gods of the
peoples are idols, but the Lord made the heavens. Honor and majesty are
before him; strength and joy are in his place."
We don't have bragging rights in ourselves but in the Scripture we have the
right and are commanded to brag about our great God to the whole world. We
are to sing His praises everywhere. We are to tell everyone of His salvation
and of His miracles.
God is a great God who made heaven and earth and everything therein. He is
not an idol made of wood or stone that does not live and never did live. To
Him belong all honor and majesty. We need to let everyone know this.
Some Bible versions say we are to fear God, where this one says we are to
revere him. We are not to be afraid of God but to worship him and let him
love us. There is joy and strength in Almighty God and in Him alone. True
joy is only found in God the Father who loves everyone so very much.
We should be so excited about what God has done for us and the whole world
that we can't help but tell everyone what God has done. We should want to
let everyone know so they can know Him also. We should be bragging every
chance we can about everything God has done. We need to bring people face to
face to Almighty God so they can see what a great God he is before they have
to come face to face with Him on Judgment Day and face His wrath. As Charles
Spurgeon wrote:
If sinners be dammed, at least let them leap to Hell over our bodies. If
they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees. Let no
one go there unwarned and unprayed for."
