God's Approval

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." (2 Timothy 2: 15 KJV)

When a was a child, I wanted my Mother's approval when I did something. I remember going to her one time and asking her what she thought of what I wanted to do. She said, "What you say sounds fine, but you never finish what you start". It broke my heart and completely destroyed what little self-confidence I had.

Parents, don't do this to your children! Your children desperately need to know that you support their efforts. Yes, they may fail, but encourage them to try again. Remember, you fail many times as a parent. How can you expect your children to never fail when you do?

Thank God, I have a Father Who approves of me and always encourages me. There were many years, however, when He didn't approve of the way I was living my life and He certainly did not approve of the things I watched on television. There were some people I was associating with that He definitely did not want me around.

How about you? Are you able to say that God approves of you right now? It's wonderful to go to college to further our education, but if we are not studying the things that make the Heart of Jesus happy, then all is in vain.
