In this ongoing series, we will be looking closely at what lessons we can learn from Solomon about how to have the kind of relationship with God that He desires for us to have. I urge you to take the time to meditate upon each Truth presented; to ask God to make each lesson REAL to you and to take quiet time to prayerfully ponder each point and what it means to YOU! LESSONS ON RELATIONSHIPS FROM SOLOMON, Lesson 18
Unit 2: OUR Part in the Relationship;
Part 5: We Must Tell Others About Him
My Friends are with me Listening

In last week's lesson, focusing on Song of Song of Solomon 8:14b, we discovered the truth that the place to start to have a relationship with God is to desire to be in His presence enough to cry out to Him to come-quickly, leaping over every obstacle-to be with us! That's the first steps! Now let's look at what Song of Solomon 8:13 has to teach us:
"Oh, lady of the gardens, my friends are with me listening. Let me hear your voice!" (Song 8:13 from THE MESSAGE: The Bible in Contemporary Language © 2002 by Eugene H. Peterson. All rights reserved.)
There is nothing that our Lord likes better than to hear our voices! He cries out to us: "Oh, lady of the gardens, my friends are with me listening. Let me hear your voice!"
But why does He want to hear our voices? The answer to this question also lies in this verse. Because
"my friends are with me listening." Who are these friends of God? We are ALL God's friends. Jesus Himself said so:
"I have called you FRIEND!" (John 15:15). Once we are in God's family, the price has been paid. We becomes friends of the Living God. So when God says He wants to hear your voice because His "friends" are listening, He's referring to each and everyone!
Friend, when you talk about the wonderful things the Lord has done for you, when you share some of the intimate times you've had with the Lord with others, God is happy! He wants His other friends to hear it, because He desires to have that kind of a relationship with EACH and EVERY one!
Enough to ponder for today. Please DO ponder this though, my friends. Ponder the truth that God longs to hear your voice. He cries out: "My friends are with me listening! Let me hear your voice!"
This concludes our study on OUR part in the relationship with God. We have learned the truth that We must desire God as much as HE desires us; we've seen how we must see Him as our dearest friend; we've learned that we must WANT to spend private time with Him; We must WANT to cry out to Him, and we must WANT to tell others about Him. That's OUR part in the relationship! To WANT Him!
Please join us next Saturday for Lessons in Relationships, Part 19 where we will begin to explore the Truth about where God is when He seems to be far away!
In His love,
