Sometimes a Childlike Faith Keeps our Spirit
Singing

" ...and a little child shall lead them." Isaiah 11:6 ( NIV)
It was fall, and deep within my spirit, I was longing to start singing
Christmas carols. As I expressed my joy for this activity with my friends, I
was hoping they would join me in my enthusiasm; but that was not to be.
"It's too soon," they remarked.
For me the timing was right. Ever since I was girl, fall brought with it the
time to start practicing Christmas presentations. I ordered a Christmas CD
and concluded that I would sing along with it.
The day my CD arrived in the mail, I couldn't wait to get it unwrapped from
the cellophane package. I played the marvelous carols such as "Angels We
Have Heard On High" and " Oh Little Town Of Bethlehem." As I listened to the
words chime, I thought what a wonderful way to meditate on God's truth. As I
continued in the splendor of this activity, I reminisced about all the
Christmas plays I was in as a child. I basked in the memory of entering the
sanctuary wearing angel wings, and singing the chorus " Glory to God in the
Highest."
One afternoon, my carols were softly playing in the background while I spoke
with my 5-year-old granddaughter over the phone. I was only a few words into
our conversation when she paused and said, "Grandma, turn that up."
Surprised by her comment, I asked, " Can you hear my Christmas carols
playing?"
"Yes Grandma. Turn that up, " she replied, with a fascination in her voice.
I finally found someone to share my joy for Christmas Caroling, I thought.
Who is more perfect to share it with, than a child?
We then discussed the birth of Christ being the reason the beautiful songs
were sung.
Hearing Crystall's amazement for the carols made me realize that I was being
led by the childlike faith my heart beheld for Christ. A faith I pray will
never disappear.
The prophet Isaiah told us that a child would lead us. I was lead by the
child in my spirit to the Christmas carol. I hope you will be too, at any time
of the year.
