A Good Report

"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." (Philippians 4:8 KJV)

Someone asked me if I watched the news on television and I said that I didn’t because it is all negative and depressing. She replied, "That’s life".

I submit to you on the Authority of the Word of God that we are to think on things that are of a good report. Yes, it is true that there is crime, murder, rapes, and terrible things that happen every day. However, Jesus said that we are not to think on those things.

I’m wondering how many people after hearing about someone getting shot or raped prays for that person. Why do we watch the news? It just upsets us. Yes, we need to be knowledgeable about what is happening, but what are we doing about what we hear?

The next time you watch the news or hear a bad report about something, take it to Jesus and ask Him to please Comfort, Heal, and Encourage the person.
