A Heart Checkup

“Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” (Psalms 139:23,24  KJV)

Tomorrow is a new year should Jesus tarry His return. Today we need to do a heart checkup. I can think of no better way to start a new year than knowing that we are in good standing with Jesus.

As the world celebrates the New Year with alcohol and partying, we who claim to be Christians should go to Jesus and ask Him to search our hearts. I received an email yesterday from a precious friend whom I have known for many years. She said that perhaps someone would accept Jesus as Savior through reading the words that Jesus inspires.

You and I need to be ready at all times to spread the Love of Jesus to a world that is hurting, lonely, and desperate. We may think that we can call that person the next day or even in a few hours. That person may not have a few more hours to live.

I have a pinball game that I play on my computer. I love playing it because it was given to me as a gift several months ago. However, I have found myself stopping in the middle of a game to contact someone I don’t know to tell them about Jesus.

Is your heart right before God today? Can you say with absolute certainty that if Jesus were to come back today that you are ready to meet Him? Let’s start the New Year with a heart that is pleasing to Jesus.
