A Heart of Love

“And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.” (Luke 23:33,34 KJV)

What an amazing station of love by our Saviour! They had beaten Him beyond recognition. Yet, even while hanging there in such agony, He said “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do”. Jesus cared enough about us to forgive us even while dying. My mind can’t grasp such an unselfish act of love.

I have received several emails from people who said “Jesus can’t forgive me for what I have done”. When Jesus was hanging on the cross, He forgave us. There isn’t anything more that He can do to prove His Love for us. The Bible says “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends”. (John 15:13) King James Version

When we don’t accept His forgiveness, we break His Heart. For many years, I couldn’t accept His forgiveness either because I felt I had failed Him so many times. One day, God spoke to my heart and said “When you don’t accept forgiveness, you are calling Me a liar. I have told you that I will forgive you.”

Jesus Loves us so much that He thought about us even while in such agony and tears. He had to have had tears in His Heart while hanging on that cruel Cross. Everyone had deserted Him and turned against Him. Remember, Jesus was human and had emotions just like we do. Accept His forgiveness and Love because He paid a terrible price for it.
