God's Rest

"I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety."  (Psalms 4:8 KJV)

For years I could not sleep when I went to bed. I took sleeping pills for several years off and on but nothing helped. I would stay up until midnight and get up very early to see if that would make a difference, but it didn't.

I finally realized why I could not sleep, why I would toss and turn most of the night. It is because my heart was not right with Jesus. I had made a verbal and head commitment to Him, but I had never made a heart commitment to Him. It is impossible to lay down to a peaceful sleep if your heart is not right with Jesus.

Is your heart right with Jesus? Are you able to go to bed in peace knowing that you have done your best that day to serve Jesus? We need to realize that we can't serve Jesus in our own strength. We need to ask Jesus to work through us and speak through us. When others hear us talking, do our words draw them closer to Jesus? When we do something, do our actions demonstrate the Love of Jesus?

If you have something hindering your fellowship with Jesus, I urge you to make a heart commitment to Him. You will experience Joy and Peace that you have never known.
