Identified

You have been separated from your Father ever since you were born and now you get word from far away that you are to inherit a beautiful home from him. You receive a description of the house and the gardens and a broad idea of the location.

There are directions about how to get there but there is one proviso: you must be accompanied by someone who knows your Father and can identify you.

Your Father turns out to be a very well known character now that you know his name. There are references to him wherever you go so you visit the places that seem to know him best. You introduce yourself and everyone talks freely about your Father. They all seem to know him and when you mention his invitation and describe the home and the gardens you are to inherit they are keenly interested.

Then you ask someone to go with you to introduce you to your Father personally. You ask him to stay with you and guide you all through the journey, however long it takes. Suddenly, there is a back-off. Everyone has other interests. Everyone has other important things to do first. Nobody has time to make the journey with you and immediately you are alone again.

Disappointment and loneliness overwhelm you and you look up at the stars and beg for help. A stranger stands beside you. "I’ll take you," he offers and in the dark, he holds out his hand to you.

You hesitate to take it, you have been offered so many hands lately and then been rejected and you are not sure if this is for real. He still holds out his hand in the dark and you nervously put your hand in his. As you do, you feel deep, rough scars. You draw back but he says with gentle patience, "I am the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father except through me."

Instantly you know you have a guide who will take you all the way and identify you to your Father, John 14:6.
