PAIN!

Pain! Emotional pain! Physical pain! Financial pain! Spiritual pain! We all
go through some kind of pain in our lives!
Quite a few years ago, I was in a lot of pain in many areas of my life. I was in
pain from morning till night. I was in pain all night long. All I knew was pain.
Because the process was so long, I questioned God and wondered why I had to go
through all that and others didn’t. What I didn’t see at the time is that
everyone has pain—just in different areas and different levels at one time or
another in their lives.
The pain got so bad that I knew I needed help so went for Christian counseling.
During this time of dealing with my personal issues, the pain increased in some
areas before it got better. I had to accept the pain and the process of dealing
with the pain as a learning tool for me. It was then that I found a couple of
verses that I love.
"Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of
mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation,
that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort
wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God." (2 Corinthians 1:3-4 KJV)
The truths of those verses were life changing for me. I claimed them as mine.
God was comforting me so that I could reach out and comfort others. There was a
purpose for my pain.
I would like to suggest that any pain we have is for a purpose. Physical pain
causes us to go to the doctor. Spiritual pain causes us to run to God. Financial
pain causes us to seek help in that area. Emotional pain causes us to find
someone to help us through those rough times.
God is our comfort in every area of our lives. No matter what the pain, He is
there for us—every minute of every day.
Prayer: Oh God, how we resist pain in our lives. We don’t like it. In fact,
often we rebel against it. But God, You are omnipresent no matter what we are
going through. Help us to claim Your Word, knowing that You will comfort us.
Then You want us to go and comfort others with the same comfort that You have
comforted us with. You are so great, Lord! Help us to run to You quickly in our
pain. Thank You. Amen
