Seek God First

“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things
will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:33 NIV)
Jesus said for us to not worry about what we will eat or drink or wear, because
our heavenly Father knows that we need these things. He said if we will seek God
first, all these things will be given to us. God will supply our every need when
we give Him first place in our lives.
God’s Word says for us to seek His Face, to inquire of and require His
Presence as our most vital need. Everything we need in life is found in Him.
The prophet Jeremiah tells us that God has plans to prosper us, plans to give us
hope and a future. He says if we will seek God, we will find Him. When we seek
Him diligently with all our heart, He will reveal Himself to us. He will make
His ways known to us. He will reveal to us His plan for our lives.
Jesus told Martha that she was worried about many things. He said only one thing
is needed and that was what Mary had chosen. Mary was constantly sitting at the
feet of Jesus listening to every word He said. She was diligently seeking Him
with her whole heart.
We seek Him and draw near to Him by spending time with Him in prayer and in His
Word. He promises that He will draw near to us when we draw near to Him. God
wants to have an intimate relationship with all His children. He is waiting for
us to come to Him. He wants to talk to us on a daily basis so we can walk in His
plan for our lives. We must listen to Him and obey Him to have the abundant life
that Jesus came to give us.
When we put God first and keep Him first, we are giving Him control of our
lives. We are allowing Him to wholly immerse us in all that He wants to do in,
through, and around us for His Glory!
Pray this:
“Heavenly Father, I surrender my heart and life to you. I choose to put you
first in every area of my life. Thank you for giving me the power to walk in
Your will.”
“In Jesus Name, Amen.”
