A Heart Flooded with Tears

“The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his
lips. Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the
bones.” (Proverbs 16: 23, 24 KJV)
I was on my way to bed around midnight last night. I turn off the lights in the
room that I am in when I go to bed because the street lights outside give enough
light for me to see to walk through the rooms. As I started to walk through the
kitchen on the way to my bedroom, I almost fell three times. I was unaware that
there was a lot of water on the kitchen floor and on the floor in the hallway
leading to my bedroom.
The water had also reached the living room carpet and some of the carpet was
soaked. I called the maintenance people and was told that I had a broken water
pipe. The manager of the trailer park came over and shut the water off outside
so the water would not continue to come in the house. That is all that he could
do then because the store was closed and they have to buy a new water pipe.
As I was thinking about the floors being flooded with all that water, I realized
that there are times when our hearts are flooded with tears because of something
cruel that has been said to us or done to us. Our families and our friends can
encourage us but they can’t dry the tears that have flooded our hearts. There is
only one person who can dry the tears and stop them from flowing and His name is
Jesus. As He picks us up in His compassionate arms, He whispers softly “I love
you” as He tenderly kisses the tears from our hearts. There is no one like
Jesus! No one loves us like He loves us.
If we would only understand that when we hurt people we also hurt Jesus, I
believe that we would stop being so hateful. Heavenly Father, please forgive us
for hurting Jesus and for hurting our families and our friends. Don’t let us say
anything or do anything that would hurt anyone. May we be children who bring You
joy and happiness instead of sadness and sorrow. Thank You so much for loving us
unconditionally and for Your mercy and Your grace. Thank You for giving Your
beloved Son to us so we can be saved. Jesus, thank You for loving us and for
giving Your life for us. Amen.
