God's Love -- By Rosemary Renninson

I know there are more than a few reading this who have experienced the great blessing and joy of seeing at least one generation of related babies making their first attempts at walking. And no matter how many related generations of babies we’ve witnessed, what is memorable in all of them is the extremely strong, determined, and continuous will in those little ones, to keep on trying, and improving. No matter how often these toddlers fall, trip, or stumble, they have that permanent will to get up and try again.

If we multiply the determination of those babies’ wills by a few billion trillion, we may at least, just start to commence, to begin to understand our Lord’s Will and Grace to love us, and to keep on loving us. We know His love for His children is a glorious and perfect love, don’t we? As well as that, we know “God is love” itself.

"Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love." (1 John 4:8 NIV)

His love is fair. He loves all of us in the same way. God’s love conquers any difficulty. God’s love will build a bridge across any kind of river we need to cross. There is no wall or mountain God’s love cannot leap, or bring down for us. There is no muddle, tangle, mistake or, sin God’s love cannot graciously forgive. God’s love satisfies every longing in our hearts. God’s love places His Kingdom within us; Righteousness, Peace and Joy. God’s love is a giving, doing, practical, working love, not merely a saying love. God’s love is compassionate; He suffers with us. God’s love is always around: Omnipresent, Steadfast, Immutable, Eternal, and etcetera.

From the moment we are born, and born again of His Spirit, God wants to teach us His love, and to teach us to love with His love. This is huge, isn’t it?

“A New commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” (John 13:34 NAS)

Understandably, we may find this so overwhelming we can’t even think where or how we would start to love others as God loves us, but God is with us at every stage of our growth. He knows everything about us; when we sit down, when we rise up. He is familiar with all our ways.

As we carefully nurture our babies to the stage of sufficient growth and strength to stand, so God does with us. Before the baby begins to take those first steps, it learns to stand while holding onto furniture or guiding hands, for longer and longer periods. Those pudgy little leg muscles must strengthen, until they are ready to attempt the first steps. So it is with us, and our Godly love muscles. God has nurtured us. Time to start. One step, then another, and another, not just receiving God’s Love and Grace, but giving of it to others, with each new step.

Every single step we take in His Love and Grace will ever lead us closer to God Himself, and therefore the way He loves.

“By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love one for another.” (NAS)

Prayer: Our great and wonderful loving God, please enable us to answer Your Divine call on our lives. Inspire us, we pray, to at least want to start, to commence to begin to learn to love others in the way You love us, and inspire our faith to believe it is possible through You. As we become loving, better people, we will teach the world of Your Holy Divine Love, as our Lord Jesus did in His Time here on earth. Amen and Amen.
