The Shepherd of our Hearts

“And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their
synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness
and every disease among the people. But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved
with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as
sheep having no shepherd.” (Matthew 9: 35,36 KJV)
Jesus loves you. Let me repeat this again to make sure you understand. Jesus
loves you! Not only does He love you, He loves you unconditionally. Yes, I am
talking about you. Jesus doesn’t love you because of something you did. He loves
you in spite of what you did. There is no greater love than the love that Jesus
has for you. Your family and your friends love you but nobody loves you like
Jesus loves you.
He walked that long and lonely road to Calvary and there allowed them to crucify
Him for you. Not only did they crucify Him, they spat on Him. Every time I think
about them spitting on my precious Saviour, my heart breaks and I cry. O dear
people, we say that we know that Jesus loves us but none of us have grasped how
much He loves us. We have head knowledge of His love for us but we don’t have
heart knowledge of how much He loves us.
It was unconditional love for you that kept Jesus on that cruel cross of horror
and excruciating pain. We only have a glimpse, just a fingernail’s
understanding, of how much Jesus loves us. Yes, Jesus is the Shepherd of our
hearts. He feeds our hearts with compassion and unconditional love, and with
tenderness and understanding. What a compassionate and loving Shepherd we have!
What a privilege it is to be loved by the Saviour of the world. Thank You,
Jesus, for loving us unconditionally.
