Happiness

“He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the Lord, happy is he.” (Proverbs 16: 20 KJV)

I received an email from someone who asked me how I can be so happy and cheerful all the time. The person wrote in the email “You must have a lot of money to be so happy all of the time.” I had to laugh when I read that email because it is just the opposite of what the person wrote. It is true that I am happy most of the time but it is not because I have a lot of money.

I only have $18.45 in my checking account until my Social Security check is deposited next month so that is not where my happiness comes from. My happiness is not dependent on how much money I have or how many material possessions I have. My happiness comes from the assurance in my heart that the Saviour of the world loves me unconditionally and because I trust Him with my life. This is the reason why I am so happy most of the time.

Of course, I need money to pay my bills and buy groceries and personal necessities just like you do. However, even if I had all of the money in the world and all of the material possessions in the world, if I didn’t know that Jesus loves me unconditionally and if I didn’t trust Him, I would always be unhappy and discouraged.

Are you living a life of happiness or are you constantly sad and discouraged? Have you placed your trust in Jesus? Do you have the assurance in your heart that Jesus loves you unconditionally? If not, I urge you to trust Him. He will never fail you and He will never leave you not even for one minute. He will be the dearest friend you have ever known.

He will take your hand and walk with you not only on the mountain tops of happiness but also through the dark valleys of discouragement and heartaches. Just trust Him and you will have happiness in your heart that you have never known in your life. It is always safe to trust Jesus because what He says, He will do. Thank You, Jesus, that You are indeed trustworthy and thank You for loving us unconditionally.

Jesus, You are the great I Am and I love You with all of my heart. How I long for that glorious day when I will see You face to face. I will put my arms around You and give You the biggest hug that You have ever had and try to tell You how much I love You and how much I appreciate all that You have done for me.

Indeed, You are the beautiful rose of Sharon, the lily of the valley and the fairest of ten thousand to my soul. Thank You so much for loving me unconditionally. I really do appreciate Your love and kindness to me. Thank You for Your friendship and for walking with me through the dark valleys of discouragement and heartaches as well as walking with me on the mountain tops of happiness.
