A Gold Frame

“And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.” (Revelation 21:27 KJV)

Last week, I was trying to put my membership certificate that my church sent me in a frame and I accidentally tore it. I should have known better than try to frame it because of the arthritis in my hands. When I tore the certificate, my heart broke and I cried. I immediately went to Jesus and told Him about it and asked Him to please comfort me.

As I was crying and telling Jesus how upset I was because I tore the certificate, I was reminded that there is another kind of membership certificate. For those of us who have had our sins forgiven and have been washed in the cleansing atoning blood of Jesus, we have a membership certificate in Heaven that can never be torn or destroyed.

When we invite Jesus into our hearts to be our personal Saviour our names are written in the Lamb’s book of life. Our Heavenly Father immediately puts a picture of us in the room that He has reserved for pictures of His family. Underneath our picture, He puts our membership certificate in a gold frame that has been signed in red by the blood of Jesus.

Charles Austin Miles, a song writer, wrote the Gospel song “A New Name in Glory”. I am so thankful that these words are true in my life. “There’s a new name written down in glory, And it’s mine, O yes, it’s mine!” On August 14, 1980, I humbled myself, admitted that I was a sinner, repented of my sins and asked God to forgive me. I invited Jesus into my heart to be my personal Saviour. Do you have a membership certificate in Heaven?
