A Prayer From the Heart

“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.” (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 KJV)

It is the prayer and heart’s cry of every Christian that their families and loved ones will be saved and meet them in Heaven. This is a prayer that comes from the heart and it is said with many tears, that their families and loved ones will accept Jesus as their personal Saviour before it is too late!

Ada Ruth Haberson, a Gospel song writer, wrote a song that I believe touches the heart of every Christian “Meet Me in the Homeland”. These words are so beautiful and also challenging. “Will you meet me in the glory, Shall we both together stand ‘Mid the company of saved ones, In that blood-bought happy band?”

However, not only is it our heart’s cry and prayer for our loved ones to be saved, it is also the heart’s cry and prayer from the heart of Jesus. “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9).

Heavenly Father, we cry out to You and pray that You would please touch and melt the hearts of our unsaved families and loved ones. May they open the door of their hearts and invite Jesus in to be their personal Saviour. We thank You for Jesus, the Saviour of the world, and for our salvation. Amen.
