Cling to the Rock

“And David spake unto the Lord the words of this song in the day that the
Lord had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand
of Saul: And he said, The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer.”
(2 Samuel 22:1, 2 KJV)
It is never God’s fault if we have a bad day. I had a bad day yesterday but it
wasn’t His fault. It was my fault. He has already provided everything that we
need to live happy, peaceful, joyful and victorious lives when He sent His
beloved Son to die for us and save us. He can do no more. It is up to us to
stand on our solid Rock, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Edward Mote, a Baptist pastor, wrote “My Hope Is Built”. It is one of my
favorite songs. “When darkness seems to hide His face, I rest on His unchanging
grace. In every high and stormy gale, My anchor holds within the veil. On Christ
the solid Rock I stand, All other ground is sinking sand; All other ground is
sinking sand.”
We live in a world that is filled with temptations and we must cling to the
Rock, our precious Saviour. If we don’t cling to Him, when all hell comes
against us not only will we fall, we will also hurt Jesus. There is nothing
wrong with being tempted. Jesus was tempted. It is only when we give in to
temptation that we sin.
Heavenly Father, thank You for Jesus, the Rock of our salvation. Please keep us
from getting off of our Rock and walking on sinking sand. I ask You to please
forgive me when I get off of my Rock. Please keep us on the Rock when we are in
danger of falling. Keep us safe from satan and his vicious poisonous attacks.
Thank You for helping us. Amen.
