Heavenly Confirmation

"And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever, the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you." (John 14:16-18 NIV)

"let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance." (Prov 1:5 NIV)

It was the night before my nursing skills exam.

There was a possibility that I could draw any two of fourteen skills which we have to be fluent in.  But I had been weighed down by work hassle, winter weariness, and doubts about going on in nursing because I was afraid that God might have some other plan for my life (I am a 50 year old male).

I prayed that if God wanted me to go on with the nursing occupation, He would grant me the specific two exam skills which I most commanded.

The next day I was waiting for my turn to be examined.  There were six envelopes left on the desk each containing two random nursing skills.  So I asked God, “which envelope should I choose?”

A quiet voice inside me said “pick the envelope on which the most light is falling”.  It was an envelope lying on the corner of the desk.  When it was my turn to be examined I picked that envelope. It contained the exact two skills which I had been praying for.

I passed the exam with flag and crown, and what a heavenly confirmation that I should go on nursing!
